Professional Sodium Metasilicate Deck & Fence Cleaner (Step 1 System)
Deep Clean. Mild Strip. Restore Properly.
EXPERT Wood Cleaner™ is a professional-grade alkaline wood cleaner formulated with 100% sodium metasilicate. It is engineered for deck and fence restorations that require deep cleaning and controlled mild stripping, without the harshness of aggressive solvent strippers.
This is our go-to solution when wood needs more than a rinse but does not require full coating removal.
Part of the Fence Armor™ 3-Step Wood Restoration System.
Description |

What It Does
When activated with water, EXPERT Wood Cleaner™ penetrates wood fibers to lift and break down:
✔ Embedded dirt and grime
✔ Mold, mildew, and algae staining
✔ Organic growth residue
✔ Oxidation and weathering
✔ Some failing semi-transparent stains
✔ Lumber mill grade stamps
It cleans deeper than oxygenated cleaners and provides mild stripping action to properly prepare wood for brightening and staining.
Why Sodium Metasilicate?
Sodium metasilicate is a professional alkaline cleaner trusted by restoration contractors because it:
• Breaks down organic contamination
• Softens and lifts surface coatings
• Prepares wood for brightening
• Helps restore absorbency before staining
Unlike chlorine bleach, it does not damage wood fibers when used correctly.
100% Sodium Metasilicate. No fillers.

FAQs – EXPERT Wood Cleaner™ |
What’s the difference between Eco Cleaner™ and Wood Cleaner™?
Eco Cleaner™ (sodium percarbonate) removes organic growth like mold and algae with oxygenated action.
Wood Cleaner™ (sodium metasilicate) is a stronger alkaline cleaner that also provides mild stripping action and deeper stain lifting.
Use Eco Cleaner for organic stain removal. Use Wood Cleaner for heavier restoration or when light stripping is needed.
Will this remove the old stain?
It can remove failing semi-transparent stains and surface contamination.
It is not designed to remove intact paint, solid stain, or heavy film-forming coatings.
Does this kill mold and mildew?
It removes mold, mildew, algae, and organic staining from the wood surface.
It is designed for cleaning and restoration, not long-term microbial control.
Do I need to use a brightener after this cleaner?
Yes.
Wood Cleaner™ is alkaline and must be neutralized with a Wood Brightener (Step 2) to restore natural wood color and balance pH before staining.
Is this safe for plants?
When used as directed and rinsed thoroughly, it is safe for surrounding vegetation.
Always pre-wet and post-rinse plants before and after application.
How strong should I mix it?
Light cleaning: 1/4 cup per gallon
Medium cleaning: 1/2 cup per gallon
Heavy restoration: 1 cup per gallon
Adjust strength based on wood condition.
Will this raise the grain?
Yes, grain raising may occur during deep cleaning.
This is normal in restoration prep and can be lightly sanded if necessary before staining.
How long should I let it dwell?
5–20 minutes, depending on buildup.
Do not allow it to dry on the surface.
Can I pressure wash after applying?
Yes, but use the lowest effective pressure to avoid wood damage.
Use a pendulum motion and avoid stopping in one area.
Can this be used on painted or sealed surfaces?
No. It is designed for unsealed, weathered, or semi-transparent stained wood.
“Is this part of a full restoration system?”
Answer: Yes. Step 1: clean, Step 2: brighten, Step 3 stain.
