Hi I'm Al Martins today this video we're talking about Fence Armor Round Protection, our round series comes in two different versions beyond the colors you can get it powder coated. Same galvanized steel but our round is obviously designed for round posts and you can see from the slots and the keys that we have an opportunity to adjust because round posts aren't perfect that might be five inches it might be six and a half they might be tapered so the idea behind it is of course you would surround your post with Fence Armor. It’s about five inches high and then you would lock it down with those three hole positions and now you'd have your post perfectly protected again from the weed whackers or lawn equipment or other things even animals oftentimes people use our round series on the top of the post as well to protect from horse cribbing it gives it a nice look to all of them, galvanized steel powder coated to look great and adjustable so that you can fit any size post.

With round Fence Armor, our FA5x22 like all Fence Armor we recommend that you set it off the ground about an inch, inch and a half. You can use a block of wood so that you can keep them consistent if you've got a whole length of field to do so that it's accurate. When you're setting it in set the center screw in about halfway so that it is started into the into the wood or vinyl and this way it'll protrude a little bit and the back half of the Fence Armor will be able to slide underneath so that you can adjust it to the exact post diameter. This will adjust from five inches all the way up to six and three-quarters. You can squeeze it further if you like but you'd have to add some additional holes. Match up the the holes or slots on the top and then you can tighten all three but as you're squeezing them together tighten in the the center one so that its snug and now you can match up the two other screws on the top and the bottom and now all three screws will hold it in perfectly.

I've been with Log Cabin Fence for 30-35 years. We're in Southwestern Pennsylvania. We do a lot of agricultural and residential fencing, we do some commercial. Majority of the residential we do is a split-rail fence and in time with the weed whacking they do chip up the bottom of the post. Well with a coating like Fence Armor at the bottom of the posts would definitely keep the weed whacker from hitting the wood itself. We use a lot of Southern Yellow Pine and the Pine is a softer grade of wood because the treatment issues so it does chip easier with the weed whacker and when you put the Fence Armor on I like to keep about an inch and a half off the ground. The main reason being is as the post deteriorates it's gonna be right at ground level because that's where you get the most air and water concentrated, so if you leave it off the ground just about an inch and a half or so that's gonna let air get through there and get rid of all the moisture. Well the Fence Armor on the post generally a horse will crib where they can get to it if you have a board at the very top or electric at the top. if they can't get to top a post they'll go to the bottom of the post where the Fence Armor sure will help curb some of the cribbing because they can't chew through the metal.
